Accessible Garden

This garden previously had awkward concrete steps at the doors, with one larger landing area.  As a wheelchair user, this made it impossible for one member of the family to access all areas of the garden. The aim in this garden, was therefore to make the long narrow space more usable, whilst also making it more accessible.

Threshold level Millboard decking was introduced make better use of the space, providing two smaller patio areas. Ramps were included at either end of the decking to enable the wheelchair to enter/exit by any of the property doors, and to enable them to access the main patio area with the rest of the family.

A decorative screen was also introduced to help break up the length of the garden, whilst planting along the length of the decking helps to soften the edges and introduce more colour.
