Dalkeith

This garden in the Dalkeith countryside was a blank canvas with stunning views. The brief was to keep as much lawn as possible, but to add in some extra seating areas, planting, and a social space for the bar-b-que.

To add in some height, three new trees were planted to frame the view beyond, and to link with the natural woodland close by.  A walled area for the bar-b-que was created, with floating bench feature to allow plenty social interaction whilst food is being prepared.  Simple stepping stone paths link all areas, planting used to soften hard landlscaping and introduce movement.

The ground in this garden was quite unforgiving and very compacted, so drainage was introduced, and all planting areas were excavated with new soil being brought in.
